What is SoD2010?

Wellington’s Summer of Design programme follows the award winning Summer of
Code Programme which has been connecting students to employers since 2006.
We provide the opportunity for you to be recruited into a paid job over the univerisity
holidays. We put you in front of Wellington design companies that are looking to recruit
top talent.

Note: Student registrations for Summer of Tech 2010 will close on 31 August 2010!

How does it work?

May 2010

Student registration opens! Summer of Design bootcamps start. We recommend that you attend as many of these sessions as possible to increase your chances of securing employment. First up is professional development, where you can polish up your CV and get tips from employers on how to get hired. We help you build an online profile that companies will browse to shortlist you for job interviews.

July 2010

More Bootcamps! Technical gurus show how design works in the real world. We’ll have core bootcamps and advanced topics this year, so even if you’ve done SoD before, check out the bootcamps, it’ll increase your chances of impressing companies. If you’re new to SoD, you MUST attend the core bootcamps to maximize your chances of getting a job. Companies will be registering on the website now, so you can start to get a feel for the job opportunities that are available.

August-September 2010

Recruitment happens! We’ll run a “Meet & Greet” session, then “speed interviews”. If you’re chosen for an interview, you’ll need to confirm your availability for work this summer.

November 2010

Jobs start! Work in your field this summer, get valuable work experience, get paid, start building your CV and industry connections.

November-February 2011

Summer Seminars! The nice people at Xero have sponsored a summer seminar series. We’ll organize lunchtime “tech-talks” throughout summer. A great chance to catch up with the wider SoT community, upskill, and get networked. Oh, and there will be a few parties & celebrations along the way.
